Bio:Cemyira
I have been playing the piano and singing since I was in Jr. High
School. I began to pursue my music career in 1998. I started out
singing at 'open mic' night clubs throughout the Washington, DC
Region to get exposure and increase my comfort level for singing
in front of a crowd.
I was born and raised in Washington, DC and come from a family
of fourteen siblings.
I have been writing lyrics, producing and arranging songs since
1999. When I realized the talent and potential that I have, I wanted
it to be more than a hobby, but a career. I want a chance to share
my music with others.
In June 2001, I performed at the Lincoln Theatre, Showtime at
the Apollo talent showcase in D.C., hosted by Jenny Jones from 95.5
WPGC for a chance to win one thousand dollars. I also opened for
Jay-Z at the MCI Center for the Summer Jam Concert. I won first
place for talent competition of ten contestants singing and playing
a song that was originally written and produced by me.
