Throughout history it has been said that behind every good and successful man there is a woman. Well, this man gives these words in honor of a woman. A woman who is kind, sweet, understanding, affectionate and loyal. This woman is of great magnitude and spirit while she exhibits the beauty and softness of a wild flower. She is untouched by the hands of man. She is a woman who needs not to demand respect because a true woman has the respect of every man that walks this earth. This woman represents everything that is good and perfect. She's the image of goodness and tranquility, she is a noble creature. She shows the strength of a lion while being as pure as the air after a spring shower. In this woman's life there are two things she treasures, her man and her Blackness. Her man is her reinforcement during times of trouble and despair. He is a part of her, her pride and joy, her other half. But most of all there is her Blackness, the essence of her life, the pulsating drive in her life. The fluid thought of like and the womanhood floods through her veins with every beat of her heart. Her Blackness is a quality beyond comparison. Her Blackness is a part of her as chicken, beans and cornbread are a part of her man's diet. She is constant like the waters of the mighty Nile. She is strong like the lion of the jungle. She is sweet like the honey of many bees. She is soft like the warmth of a loving heart. But finally she is beauty, for her soft lustful lips attract men from the four corners of the earth. Her firm breast are a temptation which leaves any man in ecstasy. The fluid movement of her body is like the movement of a swift deer. To you, Black Woman, I say be strong and steadfast because you have made your mark on the world.

On October 16th, 1995 the world was awakened by a new movement that linked hearts and minds from California to New York, because on that day Black Americans stood up in a way it never has.

On October 16th, 1995 over one million African-American men converged in Washington DC in a way never before seen. Not to protect or complain but to announce to the world that Black America is alive, flourishing and demands the respect it is due.

Due to us for the struggles and sacrifices we have made over the years. Just to be treated like a second class citizens, since the emancipation. Black America is the foundation of this country, in the most literal sense of the word.

On this day we said no more,
No More Injustice,
No More Prejudice,
No More Inequity,
No More Tipping of the Scales,
No More Double Standards,

We have risen from the oppression forced upon us,
We have elevated above the poison you teach your children,
We are committed to rising above the obstacles you place before us,

Today we proclaim a new beginning in America. Because the time has not only come, but is past due. America can no longer function without African-Americans in the mainstream.

We have risen and will not be ignored!!!!!
