"A
song can touch the emotions like nothing else. The combination of
words and music has captured the hearts and minds of generation
after generation, marking their sorrows and their triumphs."
These are not the words of a philosopher or a musical historian,
but those of a Chicago born Singer/Songwriter/Producer with a desire
to "touch the emotions" of today's music public. Like
many of his musical idols, Vincent, or Vince as he prefers, began
singing in the church. While he continues with his gospel roots,
Vince has also branched out.
With a style
resting comfortably somewhere between soul and contemporary
jazz, with a sprinkle of the Blues, Vince has been blessed
to share his talents throughout the US and the Caribbean.
His rich baritone voice has been heard from DC's Takoma
Station to the Reichhold Center for the Arts in the US Virgin
Islands. Vince currently works in, what he calls a “music
collective” featuring some of this areas most talented
musicians like PJ Morgan, Sean Geason, and Stan Cooper.
2002 was a
very busy year for Vince and Chapmuzic Productions. Shortly
after completing his second recording, "Back 2 Love",
Vince was back in the studio helping produce and engineer
the debut CD “Moment of Truth” for DC’s
own Temika Moore and a freshman project by the group The
Otherside. And as if that was not enough, Vince joined with
Keyboardist, Jonathan Davis and Saxophonist, Steven Bundick
to form the trio BC & D (Bundick, Chapman, & Davis)
and released a jazz flavored holiday CD titled “For
You For Christmas.”
"For
You For Christmas" was so well received that it nearly
sold out in three weeks. The project also found its way
to the airwaves and received praise from WHUR’s Jacquie
Gales-Webb. “Back 2 Love” features 12 original
tunes including one recorded live at the 20th Anniversary
celebration of the Reichhold Center. The project also features
the production talents of (Jonathan) Davis. According to
one reviewer, “This brand of sensuous urban soul is
powerful stuff.” Vince’s music can be found
locally at Kemp
Mill/ Willie's Music and online
at www.Chapmuzic.com
"Back 2 Love" was the first project produced by
Chapmuzic Productions (CMP). Vince started the production
company/recording studio in 1998 to expand his production
interests and to help other aspiring artists fulfill their
dreams. 2003 looks like it will be just as busy for Vince
and CMP as he prepares to work on a solo project for (Steven)
Bundick, Vocalist Jason Brown, the Sean Geason Project and
perhaps another BC & D collaboration. |
