Pennsylvania native Janine Gilbert-Carter like so many contemporary artists began her musical journey in her church as a member of the young adult choir. Since her debut solo concert in the summer of 1996 at New Genesis Baptist Church in Washington DC, this celestial songbird has mesmerized her audiences with her rich deep tones.

Since September 2001, Ms Gilbert-Carter, has worked with Jazz musical talents Ron Elliston & Ronnie Wells. Audiences have been delighted with her performances at Twins Jazz Lounge & The Emerging Jazz Artist series at the Northminster Presbyterian Church. She has also been a featured performer at several local venues where she shared the stage with area wide Jazz musicians like pianists Alex Jenkins, Fred Hughes & Ron Elliston; Bassist Wes Biles & percussionist Ricky Loza. For eighteen months, Ms Gilbert-Carter was a lead vocalist with FaithWalk a contemporary gospel group, & recorded "Children of the Highest" with them.

For five seasons, Ms Gilbert-Carter performed with the Washington Performing Arts Society Men & Women of the Gospel Mass Choir where she has shared the stage with such notables as Tramaine Hawkins, Ann Nesby & Donnie McClurkin. This season, she is on hiatus, pursuing her solo career and putting her signature accents on her debut Gospel CD, "God Spoke To Me"; scheduled to be released Spring 2003. She is also preparing to record her live Jazz CD at the upcoming 2003 12th Annual FMJS East Coast Jazz Festival where she has been selected as one of ten semifinalists in the FMJS scholarship award competition.
