Name: Jae Duncan Genre: Jazz City: Washington State: DC Comment: PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION SEPTEMBER 16, 2001 JAE DUNCAN KNOCKS 'EM DEAD AT THE ISLANDER! The continuing U Street Jazz Series sponsored by Brian Green and the Islander Restaurant and Lounge presented a rare treat to DC jazz aficionados last evening with the multi-talented Jae Duncan and her quartet. You don't get a stronger foundation and back-up than Vince Smith on keyboard and synthesizer, DeAndre Howard on drums (he kept his horn in it's bag 'cause he had a few Martels), and the always well turned out gentleman of the city, Wes Biles on Bass. Jae, the ever gracious lady that she is, turned the mike over to Nap Turner for a few tunes and then, in a surprise to everyone, invited the "Queen of DC Jazz," Miss Connie Simmons, to belt out a standard! Please watch the newspapers for other appearances of Ms. Jae Duncan and her "don't miss" performances. Next time you ask the question, "Who Can I Turn To?" The answer is Jae Duncan and her "Angel Eyes." "You're gonna hear from her!"

Name: AJQ Genre: Jazz City: Washington State: DC Comment: AJQ a Washington,DC local Jazz group is becoming a house hold name. This group has been appearing at Fino, an Italian restaurant, 3033 M Street, N.W. for two years and only a select group of people know that great jazz can be found being shared every friday night in Georgetown by such a talented group of musicians. They have a vocalist that joins them at the second and third sets that is abosolutely fantastic. AJQ starts playing at 10pm with 90 minutes straight of Jazz Standards, (and they even take requests). They return after the first break with one or two more instrumentals, then bring up their vocalist to keep you spell-bounded with her singing and beauty. This group is a quiet kept secret, mainly playing for private affairs and functions. But on fridays, everyone can "Share the Experience" with AJQ at Fino in Georgetown. Submitted On: October 31, 2002
