Name: Phreaknahdo Genre: R&B City: Washington State: DC Comment: Phreaknahdo's Debut!
We will be performing at Chief Ike's in Adams Morgan, Thursday September, 5. Come celebrate our official cherry popping with us! When we start getting Grammies, you'll want to be able to say you were there. ;~)
Who We Are
A funky fusion of R&B, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Rock, Phreaknahdo offers audience members a diverse taste of musical bliss! Phreaknahdo’s two lead vocalists are often compared to the currently popular Jazzyfatnastees while the overall band’s sound is reminiscent of legends Rufus & Chaka Kahn and contemporary artists Incognito and Brand New Heavies…however, Phreaknahdo freaks a style and sound entirely their own.
A six-member band, Phreaknahdo edges out other artists by artfully combining strong instrumentation with contemporary mixing and synthesized track beats. Bringing these two typically polarized sounds together, Phreaknahdo creates edgy masterpieces that keep the crowd both percolated and mesmerized at once. Phreaknahdo's sound is deep and real. With songs that range the topic gamut of social change, relationships, motivation and personal discovery, Phreaknahdo also sets a high standard lyrically—composing and arranging all originals and choosing covers that are meaningful audience favorites.
Phreaknahdo’s musicians are formally trained with individual professional experience opening for popular acts as Crystal Waters, Trouble Funk, EU and Hot and Cold Sweat and working with other bands and with local recording artists including the go-go bands Penetration and Blakism and the hip hop soloist Nile Nu'Man.
Phreaknahdo’s vocalists have studio experience and professional experience, appearing in venues including the Apollo Theatre in New York, the Kennedy Center and the Lincoln Theatre in DC. Some collective musical influences include Prince, Rare Essence, Miles Davis, the Dave Matthews band, Phyllis Hyman, Santana, Maxwell and other innovative artists.
