This beautiful vocal butterfly stepped on the path of her musical destiny about 20 years ago. Shirley Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughan and Nancy Wilson have influenced her jazzy musical style. Like these musical greats, her roots are in the church.

Most recently, Ms Duncan has performed for several private organizations' fundraisers, grand openings and special events; as well as several area churches.

In May 2002, she toured with gospel singer, Liz McComb, as part of the L’esprit Jazz Series held in Paris, France.

Jae is a former member of the Washington Performing Arts Society’s “Women of the Gospel” choir, which performs annually at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. She was handpicked for backup vocals with guest artists Ann Nesby and Tremaine Hawkins in January 1998.

Jae performs at her church; The Islander Caribbean Restaurant & Lounge “U Street Jazz” series; the Westminster Friday Nite Jazz Series & various private affairs (i.e., open houses, grand openings, private celebrations, etc.).

Jae studied under the tutelage of Ronnie Wells and Ron Elliston, Elliston School of Jazz Studies in Silver Spring, MD. She has also studied and performed with pianist, Alex Jenkins with whom she is currently producing her debut CD.
